I am in the process of creating an experimental liveset where I manipulate the pitch of the loops in realtime. I have mapped a knob on a MIDI controller to change the pitch of the sound, which is currently being handled via an audio effects rack for flexibility's sake.

It would be great if I could map a second MIDI control, such as a button, to the same knob to reset its position to 0. Unfortunately this seems to be much harder than I thought it would be for the following reasons:. Is there any way to do this without having to resort to third-party software such as MidiOx? I'd really rather not have to run MIDI remapping software during my set. Dummy clips are simple automations that set parameters via the Clip Envelope automation area. You can then trigger these clips via a midi trigger and they will reset the parameters for you.

The only issue with them is that you will struggle to use them on the same track as your audio clip, so you have to route the FX via another track not a return. After that all you'd need to do is set the MIDI mode of your controller to "pickup" and get used to manually zeroing the knob.

Tom Cosm has a setup that uses this if I remember correctly to save live 'presets' to his FX tracks, which you can see in his DJ megaset:. I was not able to solve this problem with the most upvoted answer As far as I understand, you'd have to do a bunch of funky routing to accomplish this with Dummy Clips, although maybe that's better than my solution!

Worked out great. One knob now controls all of my fade to grays, one knob controls all of my filters, one knob controls all of my reverbs, on top of the normal knobs that control them. This way I have 3 dedicated 'reset' knobs to 'clean out' all of my FX.

Unfortunately this seems to be much harder than I thought it would be for the following reasons: Live doesn't let you map multiple MIDI controllers to a single object Live uses the same mapping ranges for MIDI devices and the keyboard, so you can't use a keyboard key instead without screwing up the MIDI mapping for the original knob The audio effects rack will let you have another effects rack inside of it, but you can't map the knobs between them and assign both knobs to different MIDI controllers Even if I remap the MIDI button to send the same CC as the knob, Live will use the knob's mapping range, which means it won't act as a "reset" as I need it to Is there any way to do this without having to resort to third-party software such as MidiOx?

Nik Reiman Nik Reiman. I understand that you will want to keep everything simple, but in the event you do need the functionality provided by MIDI-OX, you should know that it is quite reliable. I've used it live, and it has never crashed on me. Brad, agreed, it is very reliable software.

I'd had the MPD for about 2 years but only ever used it for making drums really. I never took the time to learn what all the other little buttons and functions do because I had no need or desire to. Now that I have the MPK I'm very interested in learning how to use all the functions, buttons and knobs with ableton live for producing music.

I read most of the manual but I am not really able to focus very well when reading information in this way. Is there some form of a tutorial explaining how to use this thing or am I stuck with just reading the manual all the way through and figuring it out?

Link Short URL. Nick D September 13, Hey Ben, Thanks for posting! You're at a good starting point if you are using Ableton because MIDI mapping is very easy to do in this software! Pressing the Edit button on the MPK will allow you to change the behavior of its controllers. To do this, press Edit, turn an encoder or press a switch and its currently behavior will be displayed on the MPK's screen. If you're using the Live Lite preset, the controllers should all be sending this type of message by default.

To map parameter in Ableton, press the MIDI button in the upper right corner of the software and the parameters that can be mapped will turn blue. Repeat this process for all applicable controllers and parameters. The following knowledge base article will help you further configure your controller with the software.

Add Image. I'm e. Thank you for your reply. However I was more interested in learning how to use the MPK functions such as note repeat, arp, latch, etc.Same with Glide Tracking, and on the Lightpad also with Pressure Tracking last time I checked, setting Pressure tracking for a Seaboard Block to disabled was the only tracking option that did the right thing - entirely stopped sending aftertouch messages.

I reported these bugs to support some month ago, they all were confirmed in case of Lightpad as already known and planned to be addressed "in a future update".

How to reset Ableton Live to default settings

This isn't only annoying with MIDI learn, but also in everyday use. For example the drum grid, both the separate progam and the drum grid in Note Grid is sending aftertouch messages with each touch, which in EzDrummer will mute all cymbal sounds. No way to prevent it as of now. I "misuse" the Control Grid for drums because of this. Forget about controlling CC74 with a slider while playing with a Block, even though you told it to not track slide.

Also, I scripted a neat pitchbend "wheel" for Lightpad, because I thought I could play Single Channel instruments with Seaboard Block and control pitchbend for all notes, obviouslylike with an ordinary controller but squishy.

But no, pitchbend reset is sent with each touch, even when Piano Mode is enabled and Glide Tracking disabled. Albeit my code is pretty crude and would make someone who knows what he's doing cringe - I don't know better- t he DIY virtual pitch wheel itself works a charm, eg as global pitch wheel in MPE mode.

Just not for what I intended to use it for. Is it possible to Midi learn Equator's parameters to a midi controller. Nothing is mentioned about it anywhere I can see Just press Undo a few times until the right CC is mapped. Ableton maps each CC event as an undo-able step.

Here's a link to it on the microsoft app store:. Of course that's possible. Although I'd find it pretty uncomfortable to manage yet another application. In this special example I think you'll agree that we can expect that "disable tracking" for slide movement implies to not send reset messages for the slide CC. ROLI support did confirm this as a known issue and put me off until a "future update". That was in early February, so my expectations considering the timeframe for a fix are pretty low Home Solutions Forums.JavaScript seems to be disabled in your browser.

Reset Sends to zero with a button? Share your Ableton Live secrets here. I haven't found anything yet, maybe you have a solution? The idea is that when I turn up all the sends in a break I want a Reset-to-zero buttom when the kick comes in.

Max4Live or any other solutions are welcome! Re: Reset Sends to zero with a button? Last edited by eddiex on Sun Jul 07, pm, edited 4 times in total. Sounds like it would work! Thanks for the tip. I have tried to Midi-map the send to a knob then key-map the same send. It won't work properly. If I set the key-mapping to "-inf dB" it changes the the midi-mapping to the same thing. To sum things up: -I want to control the sends with knobs on a midi device. Any other solution for it?

If you are trying to reset ALL of the sends this may not be possible as they are probably all mapped to different CC 's.
